Official Synopsis:
New York City, New Year's Eve 1999. An unlikely team of four professional cleaners for the mob gathers to drink and reminisce about their careers at the turn of the millenium. As the details of their stories stop matching up, the ugly truth behind their cooperation begins to reveal itself. What starts as a celebration of a decade of shared history slowly turns into a tense and dangerous standoff.
If you’ve ever wanted to live through a day in the life of a professional hit cleaner, the
Fixer from Pulp Fiction, then you will find yourself very intrigued by what Serial Cleaners has to offer. Often, we’ve found ourselves in the roles of killers, hitmen, and one-man army-type stealth monsters in video games, and often that requires you disposing of a body here and there to avoid detection. Well, Serial Cleaners takes that gameplay mechanic and builds an entire world around it for you to traverse.
The developers at Draw Distance use the isometric stealth game to openly pay homage to
the 90’s with the setting and aesthetics on display, as well as the characters you get to control. Serial Cleaners features a campaign interwoven between the multiple protagonists, each with their own quirks and playstyles that complement their levels. For instance, one character is a hacker and appropriately needs to approach the levels from a surveillance standpoint in order to properly complete his tasks, while another is a gung ho carefree type who can slide across the map in the blood of the corpses that have been dragged across the floor.
With this in mind, you are able to tackle the open-ended maps in any myriad of ways you
choose with the tools at your disposal but keep in mind that every action here has a consequence that you may have to pay for later on in that playthrough.
